Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI(R)) Plummets to 16-Month Low in June Over Economy Jitters
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 06/30/15 -- A decline of confidence in the economy and concerns over market conditions drove a dramatic drop in the June Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) to 6 from 15 the previous month. The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) dipped 2 points in June to 6.
This is the first time since February 2010 that the Spectrem indices for Millionaire and Affluent Investors were recorded at the same level (both at 6). Prior to that, it only happened twice in the 11-year history of the indices: November 2008 and June 2009.
The indices, compiled by Spectrem Group, a market research and consulting firm specializing in the affluent and retirement markets, measure the investment confidence and outlook of the 16MM households in America with more than $500,000 of investable assets (SAICI), and those with $1MM or more (SMICI).
"While there were positive economic indicators in June, Millionaire investors, especially, are focused on economic outlook in relation to an economy artificially supported by low interest rates and what will really occur when the Fed raises them," George Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group, said. "This, in part, drove June''s increase in Millionaire investors who indicate their intention to stay on the sidelines in the coming month."
