Currently, Zulrah scales are so expensive that the helm or pipe is not worth using a lot. So scales are nerfed at some points in Old School Runescape. Mod Ash suggested to tweak Zulrah’s other drops down, but give more scales to compensation. Obviously, Jagex need more supports before making decisions.
Rising buy offer and stable sell offer for Zulrah’s scales
In survey, the average buy offer for Zulrah’s scales is 104 old school runescape gold pieces, and average sell offer is 76 GP. In general, the recent gap between buy and sell is been expanding. It shows that there is a high demand for Zulrah’s scales. High demand leads to expensive price for scales, and too expensive price nerfs the use of scales. A weird cycle forms like this. Once they are too expensive, players will lose their hearts on boss fight.
Another suggestion: create item sink to make balance
Here is another method to resolve this issue from players, which is to create a tanzanite fang item sink. When you craft a tanzanite fang you have the option to either turn it into a blowpipe, or break it down into 160k of zulrah scales. This means players who already have blowpipe will not be affected by the prices of scales. A similar thing could be done with the serpentine helm and its serpentine visage as well.
