Many Americans Undergoing Plastic Surgery Following Massive Weight Loss

The American Society of Plastic Surgery reports that there is a direct correlation between weight loss and an increase in plastic surgery procedures for , , arm and thigh lifts. According to the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, over 180,000 people underwent weight loss surgery in 2013 and the trend continues to rise. The society estimates that 1 in 5 bariatric patients will have to undergo plastic surgery. Although insurance companies cover most of bariatric surgery, most only cover a portion of plastic surgery procedures.
