Construction to begin in colourful style on future homes for 49 formerly homeless Calgarians!
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/08/15 -- On Tuesday, June 9th, the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) and the RESOLVE Campaign will host a colourful kick-off event to mark the beginning of construction of the second and third of eight purpose-built apartments for formerly homeless Calgarians. Through the innovative capital campaign, RESOLVE, the 25-unit Aurora on the Park will be built in Hillhurst Sunnyside and the 24-unit Providence House at 426 and 428 2nd Avenue N.E. in Crescent Heights.
The event will showcase the ''yarnbombing'' which artists from This is My City Art Society have woven together around the entire house. In addition, invited dignitaries, including Mayor Nenshi, will write the ''first wishes'' for the future of Aurora on the Park, Providence House, the future tenants and the communities on fabric to be hung on the house.
Media are invited to attend the formal program on Tuesday June 9, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 832 10 St. NW.
Photo opportunities and interviews will be available. After the formal program the event will be open to the public from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and include This is My City artists in attendance, music, snacks and an opportunity to look at renderings of the new buildings.
