Government of Canada provides support to the 2015 Bromont Three Day Event

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, on behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), today announced $50,000 in funding from the Government of Canada to Equine Canada Hippique. This funding will support the 2015 Bromont Three Day Event, which is taking place from June 4 to 7 in Bromont, Quebec.

- The 2015 Bromont Three Day Event is an international equestrian event that will attract 120 of the best horse and rider teams from Canada, the United States and a number of Latin American countries. Bromont will serve as the final qualifying opportunity for Canadian riders hoping to represent their country at the upcoming 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games.

- The funding, provided through Sport Canada''s , will provide 75 Canadian athletes (including 3 carded athletes), 20 Canadian coaches and 120 officials with a highly competitive international experience.

- In 2014-15, the Government of Canada, through Sport Canada''s , provided $1,354,000 to Equine Canada Hippique to support programs and services that have a direct impact on athlete development.

- In 2014-15, the Government of Canada provided 40 equestrian athletes with direct monthly support through the to assist with living, training and education expenses and allow them to focus on training.

- During the Year of Sport in Canada, the Government of Canada is encouraging Canadians of all levels of ability to participate in sport according to their talents and interests. In Economic Action Plan 2015, the Government doubled the Children''s Fitness Tax Credit to $1,000 to help offset the costs of parents enrolling their children in organized sports. At the same time, it will be investing an additional $20 million in the next generation of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, to ensure they continue to have what they need to push for the podium today and in the future.
