Media Advisory/Photo Op: AMTA to Launch Truck Driving Simulator for Enhanced Training and Safer Roads
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/01/15 -- Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) is advancing road safety in Alberta with the launch of truck driving simulators at its Centre of Excellence locations in Calgary and Edmonton. An open house and unveiling of the simulators will take place in both cities on Tuesday, June 2 from 2 - 4 pm.
AMTA invites members of the media to attend the unveiling and open house - and is offering an exclusive opportunity to get behind the wheel of the simulator.
"This is a big step forward for transport operators and road safety in Alberta," says Lorraine Card, AMTA''s executive director. "It''s a move toward more economical and more intensive training. The costly technology, which was previously beyond the reach of many operators and fleets, will now be accessible to the industry at large."
"Putting commercial drivers though something similar to what pilots go through is a cost- effective way to enhance road safety."
"Simulators provide a great opportunity to test driver reaction and hone specific driver skills in situations that would be impossible to recreate safely out on the road or on a track," says Card. "There is no better way to safely simulate, weather conditions, animal strikes, actions of other road users, or loss of air pressure outside of a simulator."
"The simulators are incredibly realistic, both visually and in terms of physics and motion mechanics."
