Braga researched, wrote and published the guide himself – and took all the pictures on his smartphone. He wrote it, he says, to help time-poor visitors have a great experience in New York and capture their memories.
The guide covers 100 of the city’s most impressive attractions, grouped by area, from the well-known to the more unusual, and all handpicked by author himself.
Braga uses a series of symbols to provide readers with information about each location, including finding out more on the web and his personal guide to nearby places to eat and drink, most of them well off the tourist track. There’s also quirky information like the time and energy you’ll need to make the most of each site, how crowded the place will be and whether the kids are likely to approve.
“I wanted my guide to be beautiful to look at and to use, so I made sure it’s colorful, simple, and fits in your pocket”, Felipe says. “All the locations are represented by pictures and maps, my idea was to create a printed alternative to mobile apps” he adds.
For keen photographers, the author has included information on the best time of day to press your shutter, marks the precise spots where he’s taken his own photos and even includes advice on photo editing.
At the end of the book, there’s also a selection of useful New York websites, some tips on the best ways to get around and easy ways to buy tickets to the main visitor attractions.
