ID: 1360887

The not-for-profit Acadia Tennis Centre will cater to all ages and abilities to learn and participate in the game of tennis

(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/22/15 -- Tennis Alberta, with the support of Tennis Canada, is proud to announce the opening of a state-of-the-art Calgary indoor tennis centre, the Al Osten Buddy Victor Acadia Tennis Centre. The not-for-profit facility will offer eight indoor courts, six outdoor courts and an elegant viewing gallery for spectators. The facility will also offer year-round indoor tennis training, development programs and play time to all Calgarians and visitors. The tennis facility will be jointly designed by Tennis Alberta and Tennis Canada.

The facility will also have change rooms that include lockers, washrooms and showers, several food services options, a mezzanine overlooking the courts that can seat up to 400 viewers, a fitness studio, a pro shop as well as administrative offices for Tennis Alberta and Tennis Canada.

"This tennis facility will be a game-changer for tennis in Canada," said Glen Scott, President of Tennis Alberta. "This announcement is the proof that there is strong interest in the sport of tennis in Alberta and that the province is committed to providing more funds and support to the sport."

The facility is directly woven into the fabric of an excellent community with several schools nearby, helping to promote participation rates among children. When planning the construction for this facility, the main goal was to make it the most technologically advanced in the world. Among the cutting-edge technologies are lasers that map your serve trajectory and high-resolution video imaging for tracing ground stroke motion. The facility is located on lands leased from the City of Calgary on 90th Avenue a few blocks east of the Carriage House Inn across the street from Lord Beaverbrook High school.

"Western Canada will finally have a world-class tennis facility where we can develop elite tennis players to compete on the world stage," said Ron Ghitter, Director of Tennis Canada. "Tennis is one of the fastest growing sports in Canada and this is a one-of-a-kind project in the country that solidifies Alberta''s position as an emerging tennis province."

The construction of the facility has already commenced and the opening date is targeted for late spring of 2016. The new centre will offer various categories of membership to optimally serve the community of players and coaches. The centre will also offer a comprehensive portfolio of training and development programs to appeal to all player and age levels including tennis clinics for kids, school and community programs, pickle ball availability, seniors program, elite training and development programs, etc.
