Whittier Law School Chosen to Host National Diversity Seminars
Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO), Inc. Presents Seminars in Southern California June 27-28
(firmenpresse) - COSTA MESA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/19/15 -- has been chosen by the . (CLEO) to host two programs for students from diverse backgrounds over the weekend of June 27th-28th. The programs are held in seven regions across the United States, and Whittier Law School is hosting the Far West Region. The goal is to prepare talented, motivated, yet underrepresented students with guidance in becoming successful law students.
The serves to encourage diversity in law school applications. The seminar is open to college juniors, seniors, and graduates from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Topics include:
Selecting a law school
Drafting an effective personal statement
Choosing sources for letters of recommendations
Preparation strategies for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
The impact of LSAT scores and Grade Point Averages (GPA) in the selection process
The significance of the early application process
Debt management and developing credit worthiness
Common errors committed by law school applicants
The ASAP seminar will help prospective students understand what is necessary in the law school admissions process, and them to choose the right law school for their specific needs.
The second program, called is a seminar designed for newly enrolling 1L law students who have been accepted into a law school for fall 2015. The AIE program prepares future law students for a successful first year, providing a head start on law school in a supportive environment.
Topics include:
Identifying and extracting rules of law
Case reading and briefing
Analyzing causes of action
The IRAC (Issue, Rule, Analysis and Conclusion) assembly line
Students are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible, while space is available. CLEO, Inc. is an independent, non-profit, 501(c) (3) corporation. CLEO''s mission is to expand opportunities for minority and low-income students to successfully attend law school.
