CFC Tabulates Initial Results for 2014 Key Ratio Trend Analysis
(firmenpresse) - DULLES, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/15/15 -- The National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) has analyzed preliminary data for its 2014 Key Ratio Trend Analysis (KRTA), an annual assessment of financial trends among electric distribution cooperatives nationwide. CFC expects to release final KRTA data in late June.
Preliminary KRTA results are based on data submitted by 772 electric cooperatives for the year ending Dec. 31, 2014, which are compared with 2013 KRTA results from a similar group of cooperatives. National figures represent each ratio''s median.
Notable trends include a continued growth in kilowatt-hour (kWh) sales, which grew by 2.52 percent in 2014 among the reporting electric cooperatives. The growth builds on the 3.11 percent growth among the same group in 2013, which at the time represented a reversal of a downward trend in prior years.
Preliminary data also show electric cooperatives maintained strong financial positions in 2014, with core financial and coverage ratios remaining stable from 2013 medians. The median system''s equity as a percentage of assets increased to 43.81 percent in 2014, up slightly from the 2013 median of 42.81 percent for the same sample. The median times interest earned ratio (TIER) improved to 2.63 from 2.60 in 2013; median modified debt service coverage (MDSC) decreased slightly to 1.81 from 1.86 in 2013.
