Claude Robinson Awarded the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts Medal
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 05/13/15 -- Today, Barbara Vogel, President of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, is proud to announce that creator Claude Robinson will be awarded the 2015 RCA Medal. This honor is awarded to individuals who have made signifiant contribution to the cultural life of Canada. Each year the RCA selects one recipient from the region where the Annual General Assembly is held.
Last year in Edmonton, the Annual General Assembly of the Academy unanimously adopted the recommendation to celebrate Mr. Claude Robinson for his staunch determination in protecting the copyright established in Canada.
Claude Robinson is an author, a creator, a designer and the author of "Robinson Curiosity" from which was illegally derived the TV Series "Robinson Sucroe". On September 8th 1995, Claude Robinson''s world collapsed. The project of his life became a nightmare. Then started a legal saga between the creator and unscrupulous multinationals, which lasted over 18 years. His courage and determination earned him a first victory in Superior Court, another one in the Court of Appeal and finally a unanimous judgment in his favor by the Supreme Court of Canada on December 23rd, 2013. This latest victory gave him the freedom to create again and live from his art.
Claude Robinson will receive the 2015 RCA Medal during the Presidents'' Dinner on Saturday, May 16th at 7 pm at the Contemporary Art Museum of Montreal, as part of the Annual General Assembly of the RCA.
