ADVISORY: Community Leaders to Announce Major Event in Response to Hospital Cuts Planned for Hamilton

Over the past four years Hamilton''s hospitals have faced more than $100 million in cuts, which has affected services across departments including an operating room, urgent care, outpatient physiotherapy, pharmacy, outpatient labs and social works hours. In recent years, Hamilton has seen the closure of the cancer lodge, fertility clinic, Breathworks Program for patients with lung disease and an entire emergency department closed to adults. More than 150 nursing, health professional and support staff positions have been eliminated, along with the care they provide. After years of devastating cuts, more are planned.
At a press conference this Wednesday, community leaders will announce a major event in response to the hospital cuts, and hospital and home care privatization in Hamilton.
