Statement by Minister Glover on the Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/27/15 -- I would like to congratulate the recipients of this year''s Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards, which were presented this evening in Toronto. These outstanding professionals work behind the scenes to deliver unique and captivating stories that entertain viewers around the world.
Our Government supports the audiovisual sector by investing more than $660 million annually through Telefilm Canada, the National Film Board of Canada, the Canada Media Fund and tax credit programs. In 2013-14, film and television production volume in Canada increased to almost $5.9 billion and created over 125,000 full-time jobs.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I congratulate the writers whose achievements and dedication were recognized this evening. I commend the Writers Guild of Canada and its partners for honouring our artists and their important contributions.
