Library and Archives Canada Acquires Robert Hood Watercolours

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) is pleased to announce that it has purchased four watercolours by Robert Hood, a British officer who participated from 1819 to 1821 in an Arctic overland expedition to map the Coppermine River as part of the search for the Northwest Passage.
A significant addition to LAC''s existing holdings of Robert Hood''s work, this acquisition provides historical context and documents a key expedition in Canada''s Arctic history, the first by the famous British explorer Sir John Franklin.
