Government of Canada supports City of Drummondville's 200th anniversary
(firmenpresse) - DRUMMONDVILLE, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 04/14/15 -- The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, and Member of Parliament (Roberval-Lac-Saint-Jean), today announced $178,900 in funding for the city of Drummondville.
Of this amount, $118,900 will be used to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the city''s founding, while $60,000 will go toward the Espace Frederick-George-Heriot project in honour of the city''s founder. Minister Lebel made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
Drummondville will use this funding, granted under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, to hold festivities under the theme "Les gens heureux ont une histoire" ("Happy people have a history"). This theme will showcase the vitality, hospitality, joie de vivre and pride of Drummondville''s residents and business community.
