Celebrate Oncology Nursing Day
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/07/15 -- This April 7th, as communities across Canada celebrate Oncology Nursing Day, not only will important members of every cancer care team be recognized, but we are reminded of the critical role that oncology nurses play during all phases of cancer treatment and care.
To celebrate Oncology Nursing Day, the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology invites the public to view its video "People, Purpose, Passion". Please click here () to access.
"Caring is the essence, the very core of nursing. This video demonstrates how oncology nurses become a major dimension in people''s lives over a period of time that can range from weeks to years" said Barbara Fitzgerald, President of the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology.
"We wanted to inspire our fellow oncology nurses, but also highlight the impact of our work with our patients," said Charissa Cordon who co-led the production of the video. "We also wanted to showcase what we love about oncology nursing. And we wanted to get our fellow nurses excited about our annual conference that will be in Toronto this year. We believe this video captures the essence of our conference theme this year: People, Purpose, Passion."
Oncology Nursing Day highlights the work of the nurses who provide care to cancer patients in a variety of areas. Oncology nurses administer and manage treatment of the disease, engage in cancer related research, play a role in prevention, advocate for cancer patients and their families and provide psychosocial support for patients and their families as they deal with return to work issues, fear of recurrence and other psychological and emotional concerns.
