Zenmark Verbal Design Names Bolt Electric Vehicle for General Motors

The Bolt EV is expected to be available in the 2017 model year, offering a groundbreaking combination of affordability ($30,000) and long driving range (200 miles).
The name Bolt builds on the familiarity of the current Volt hybrid model while instantly expressing their close relationship and the evolution of Chevrolet''s electric car models. Many name options expressed this connection, but Zenmark found that Bolt consistently proved distinctive with its simplicity and electric "lightning bolt" imagery. While at first glance the names appear almost too close phonetically, it was exactly this similarity that General Motors hoped to highlight.
