Dr. Alain Beaudet Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Canada Foundation for Innovation
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/04/15 -- , Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), welcomes as the newest member of the CFI''s Board, appointed by the Government of Canada.
"Dr. Beaudet brings to this Board a long-standing commitment to advancing health research in Canada," says Dr. Smith. "I look forward to working with him to support the CFI''s mission to fund Canadian research infrastructure."
Since 2008, Dr. Beaudet has been the President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (), one of the primary funding agencies responsible for supporting new discoveries, treatments and innovations in health research in Canada. In 2004, Dr. Beaudet was the President and CEO of the Fonds de la Recherche en Sante du Quebec ().
Dr. Beaudet also built a distinguished career at the world-renowned Montreal Neurological Institute (). He was a professor of neurology and neurosurgery at , publishing more than 175 scholarly articles and some 40 monographs and book chapters. He received numerous awards and distinctions, including becoming a Knight of the in 2011, the highest honour awarded by the government of Quebec.
Dr. Beaudet''s remarkable career began when he earned a medical degree and a PhD in neuroscience from the . He did postdoctoral training at the in Saclay, France, and the ''s Brain Research Institute in Switzerland.
