"March is Fraud Prevention Month, when Canadians are encouraged to get informed about fraud and how they can protect themselves. Our Government has many resources where Canadians can learn how to recognize, report and stop fraud.
This year the theme is Don''t Buy Into Fraud. In this era of global connectivity, Canadians are shopping and banking online more than ever, but these activities do pose risks. Get Cyber Safe has information on how to spot fraudulent online activity and what you can do to protect yourself.
Another useful resource is the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) - Canada''s central repository for data, intelligence and resource material for fraud. The CAFC is an innovative partnership which is jointly managed by the , the Competition Bureau of Canada and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
As part of their work, the CAFC has educational materials for the public on all types of fraud, and offers an Intake Unit that provides valuable and compassionate advice to victims of fraud.
