Multicore Association Announces Silexica''s Participation as a New Working Group Member to Drive Emerging Multicore and Manycore Standards

ID: 1339282

(firmenpresse) - EL DORADO HILLS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/24/15 -- The ™, a global non-profit organization focused on developing standards that help speed time to market for products that involve multicore implementations, announced today that Silexica Software Solutions GmbH has joined the consortium as a working group member.

"We always welcome start-up companies into the Multicore Association membership to help drive new ideas and technologies. To that point, I''m happy to announce Silexica as our latest member," said Multicore Association President, Markus Levy. "Silexica, founded in Aachen, Germany, in August 2014, provides a parallel software development tool suite for programming complex embedded multicore applications, perfect for helping us evolve our standards such as our new (SHIM) standard and future MCAPI versions."

"The Multicore Association specifications align perfectly with our products, giving us the motivation to support the efforts of this consortium. For example, Silexica tools enable detailed insight into the capabilities of multicore platform architectures, which ties in directly to the MCA SHIM specification," said Weihua Sheng, Chief Technology Officer at Silexica. "On the other hand, we strongly believe that with the MCA specifications, a rising tide will lift all boats, therefore, our contributions will support the industry in general."

Silexica tools hide away the target hardware complexity from the software programmer. By adopting standards such as SHIM and MCAPI, Silexica''s advanced code analysis and compilation technologies enable smooth and automated migration of existing software among different multicore platforms. As a software tool provider, defining and supporting standards help Silexica to improve tools usability and broaden compatibility with third-party products, so that customer benefits can be best served.

The Multicore Association provides three levels of , with executive board, working group, and university members. The executive board helps determine the overall direction of the organization. Working group and university members are eligible to participate on any of the working groups.

The Multicore Association provides a neutral forum for vendors interested in, working with, and/or proliferating multicore-related products, including processors, infrastructure, devices, software, and applications. The consortium has made freely available its specifications for Multicore Communications API (MCAPI) Multicore Resource Management API (MRAPI), Multicore Task Management (MTAPI), and Software/Hardware Interface for Multi/ManyCore (SHIM, as well as its Multicore Programming Practices (MPP) guide. In addition to the SHIM working group, the organization has active working groups focused on Multicore Communications (Version 3.x) and Tools Infrastructure (TIWG). Further information is available at .

Silexica provides programming tools for embedded multicore architectures. Founded in August 2014 as a spin-off from RWTH Aachen University, Silexica''s product spectrum addresses software developers and hardware platform architects, as well as semiconductor vendors and fabless multicore IP providers. Silexica''s advanced code analysis and compilation technologies enable automated migration of existing software to multicores as well as an efficient implementation of new parallel applications. They automate the software mapping while leading-edge code optimization techniques ensure highest performance, hardware utilization, power optimization and meeting real-time constraints. Silexica tools address a variety of embedded computing application domains, including wireless communications, mobile devices and automotive electronics. For more information, please visit .
