ID: 1338647

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 02/19/15 -- As part of Ontario''s pre-budget consultations the AMAPCEO President, representing 12,000 professional public sector employees, released its budget submission and a brief on the proposed Ontario Retirement Pension Plan.

As part of the Government''s pre-budget consultations AMAPCEO provided an oral briefing on January 15, and as an extension to its presentation five key recommendations are offered in its full budget submission. The recommendations can now be found on the AMAPCEO website at , or by clicking . Supplementing the budget submission is a to the Minister of Finance commenting on the government''s proposal to establish an Ontario Retirement Pension Plan. AMAPCEO welcomed this initiative and the ability to comment on the need to ensure that dignified retirements are available to all Ontarians.

President Dave Bulmer said, "These recommendations are offered in good faith to the Liberal government which has, since the onset of the fall 2008 financial crisis, sought to return to balance on the backs of its employees." He added, "Our budget brief encourages the government to end its policy of wage restraint in the public sector; work to increase revenue; continue its efforts on pension reform; minimize the use of consultants throughout the public service, especially in Information Technology; and as the Auditor-General recently recommended, looks to bring more management of public sector construction projects in-house."

AMAPCEO''s position on the proposed pension plan is that it must be a universal plan, it must be mandatory and it must be available at all employers.

AMAPCEO is the Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario and is a bargaining agent representing approximately 11,500 professional and supervisory employees who work in the Ontario Public Service directly for the Government of Ontario, in every ministry and in a number of agencies, boards and commissions; in over 130 communities across the province and in 11 cities outside Canada.
