Mining Executive: To Fix Gold''s Problem, Leave More of It in the Ground, an Industrial Info News Alert
(firmenpresse) - DENVER, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 02/19/15 -- Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The last few years have not been kind to companies that mine gold. The price of gold has plunged about 33% from a high in late 2011, to a current level of about $1,200 per ounce. The stock prices of publicly traded gold producers have been hammered. While the decline in industrial demand is one reason for the dimming fortunes of gold producers, a longtime gold-industry executive recently told a conference in Denver that the industry could improve its fortunes by leaving more of the metal in the ground.
