Media Advisory: New AMAPCEO President in Toronto on Provincial Tour

ID: 1336298

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 02/10/15 -- The President of AMAPCEO will hold a special lunchtime member meeting with over 700 Ontario Public Service employees at 222 Jarvis, on Wednesday, February 11th to defend public services.

AMAPCEO members have elected a new President, Dave Bulmer, who started his term on January 1st after a career in the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, most recently based in London. To hear directly from the membership about local issues, including IT outsourcing, privatization, and workload, the President is conducting a province-wide tour with fourteen stops at worksites around Ontario. The purpose is to discuss how the union should respond to the attack on public services, and good unionized jobs.

AMAPCEO has always considered the government''s financial constraints and sought to find amicable ways to work together, but insists cuts and privatization of public services hurt local economies and families. At the meeting members will be asked, "To combat the erosion of good jobs and Ontario''s great public services, what should AMAPCEO do in 2015?"

The #OurAMAPCEO tour is an initiative of the President to build a strategic plan charting a new course of action for the union, and a means to tackle risky public-private partnership schemes.

AMAPCEO is the Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario and is a bargaining agent representing approximately 11,500 professional and supervisory employees who work in the Ontario Public Service directly for the Government of Ontario, in every ministry and in a number of agencies, boards and commissions; in over 130 communities across the province and in 11 cities outside Canada. AMAPCEO also represents over 500 employees in the broader public sector who work at: Health Quality Ontario; Office of the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth; Office of the French Language Services Commissioner; Ontario Arts Council; Ontario Racing Commission; Public Health Ontario; and Waypoint Centre for Mental Health.
