Governor Appoints Golden Gate University Professor to the California Board of Accountancy
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/10/15 -- California Governor Edmund G. Brown recently appointed (GGU) Professor and alumna Kathleen K. Wright to the California Board of Accountancy (CBA), a branch of the state''s Department of Consumer Affairs. The CBA''s mission is to protect consumers by ensuring that only qualified licensees practice public accountancy in accordance with established professional standards.
A California state and local tax expert, Wright has been a professor at GGU since 2012 and serves as Director of the State and Local Taxation Certificate Program in its prestigious . "I''m thrilled with this appointment," said Wright, "because it allows me to become involved in the regulation of the accounting profession to insure that CPAs retain their reputation as competent and trusted professionals who provide a valued service to the public. I''m also eager to help institute vibrant online continuing education courses to support our state''s accounting professionals."
Prior to joining GGU, Wright was a professor at California State University, Fullerton from 2006 to 2012 and at California State University, East Bay from 1985 to 2006. Wright served as a vice president at Citibank N.A. from 1973 to 1985 and a senior auditor at KPMG from 1971 to 1973. She is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Bar Association. Wright earned a Master of Laws degree in taxation from GGU, a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University, School of Law and a Master of Business Administration degree in taxation from New York University.
