Electronic Access to Health Insurance Form Is Good News for Early Tax Filers
Liberty Tax Advises Taxpayers to Check Online for Form 1095-A, Which Is Needed to File Return

Taxpayers who enrolled in healthcare coverage through the federal Marketplace now will be able to download Form 1095-A, which verifies their source of health insurance and is needed to complete their 2014 income tax returns. Liberty Tax advises those awaiting Form 1095-A to check their online accounts daily as the forms are being posted on a rolling basis. The sooner a taxpayer accesses Form 1095-A, the sooner he or she can file taxes and receive any refund due.
Information from Form 1095-A is needed to complete Form 8962, which details health insurance subsidies and must be included with the tax return. If Form 8962 is not included, any tax refund will be drastically delayed.
"This is crucial, because we know that taxpayers who received health insurance subsidies are among those who like to file early," said Chuck Lovelace, Vice President of the Affordable Care Act at Liberty Tax. "Electronic access to Form 1095-A means they won''t have to wait on the Postal Service to get their taxes done. They can access the form right at the tax preparer''s office."
The Department of Health and Human Services recently began mailing and electronically posting Form 1095-A to those who enrolled in coverage for 2014 in the federal Marketplace. Taxpayers who used state Marketplaces may also be able to download the forms, but that will be determined by their individual states.
Liberty Tax can work with taxpayers to check their accounts and download Form 1095-A.
