Remind Releases Spanish-Language Version to App Stores
Connecting Spanish-Speaking and Bilingual Teachers, Students, and Parents is Urgent Need in Education
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/21/15 -- , the secure mobile communication product for teachers, students and parents, launched a Spanish-language version which is now available across all platforms: iOS, Android, web, and SMS.
As the Hispanic population in the U.S. grows(1), so does the number of bilingual households. More than 35 million Hispanics speak Spanish at home, in addition to a second language.(2) Remind seeks to improve communication between those bilingual households and educators by introducing the app in Spanish.
Bridging communication gaps, such as this one, is Remind''s mission, and it''s resonating:
Remind now counts 23 million teachers, students and parents as users, which is nearly a 30 percent increase from August 2014.
More than 1.5 million teachers, administrators and coaches use Remind around the world. In the U.S., the equivalent of 35 percent of all K-12 teachers have used Remind to reach students and parents where they live -- on their mobile phones.
"Remind''s availability in Spanish, as well as five additional languages coming soon, will be a new lifeline for teachers struggling to communicate with non-English-speaking parents," said Brett Kopf, Remind CEO. "It''s estimated that 8.2 million public school students(3) are from immigrant households and speak a language other than English at home."
Communication barriers in the classroom are an international challenge, and teachers worldwide are using Remind: The global year-over-year growth rate is accelerating 10 times as quickly compared to the U.S. year-over-year growth rate. Remind''s fastest growing countries outside of the U.S. include Canada, India, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
"Considering the diverse background of my students and their families, a language barrier sometimes arises that makes it difficult to keep parents actively involved in their child''s education. Remind helps with the initial bridging of the communication gap. It''s that first step to getting them involved and communicating with their child''s teacher or school." ~ Jay Sorenson, Technology Teacher for Rio School District, Oxnard, California
"Sabiendo que todos los padres de familia y alumnos ya están conectados a sus celulares, ha sido un paso natural en siempre estar en contacto." ~ Dominique Dynes, Middle School Teacher, The American School of Guadalajara, Guadalajara, México
