New Associate of Arts Degree Program Starts Fall 2015
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/21/15 -- President Obama''s State of the Union speech and the recently announced America''s College Promise proposal, advocating that nine million community college students receive a tuition-free education, inspire (GGU) to seek to have those funds available to first- and second-year students enrolled in its newly created Associate of Arts (AA) degree program in any forthcoming legislation. Classes for GGU''s AA degree will begin Fall 2015.
"The AA degree in General Studies at GGU is the ideal degree program for working adult students who have a minimal number of academic credits earned and who seek a milestone of achievement while working toward the Bachelor''s degree," said Dr. Nate Hinerman, Dean of at GGU. "Our AA provides working adults with a business education taught by practicing professionals that integrates the liberal arts with knowledge of management principles, leadership strategies, and organizational theory."
GGU will offer an AA degree in General Studies, with applications available in February 2015 at . Classes will be taught by a diverse group of faculty who are also highly experienced working professionals, and will be offered at the school''s Mission St., San Francisco campus, as well as be available online.
President Obama''s vision accords with a recent study conducted by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, indicating that students who complete an AA are much more likely to continue to complete a Bachelor''s degree. At GGU, eligible students who earn the AA degree are guaranteed admission to the university''s BA/BS program, with coaching services included to support them throughout their studies. GGU''s location in the heart of San Francisco''s Financial District will allow students with day jobs to pursue their AA credential in an easily accessible and vibrant professional setting.
"Not only does our AA provide momentum for our BA/BS programs, but it also serves as an indicator to employers that the individual is committed to life-long learning and personal continuous improvement, both of which are factors that can help secure employment and result in career advancement," said Dr. Hinerman.
