Multicast HDMI video over an IP network with USB HID support

Using Ethernet infrastructure to distribute HD video signals enables you to break free from traditional video distance limits.

(firmenpresse) - Using Ethernet infrastructure to distribute HD video signals enables you to break free from traditional video distance limits. Image quality remains excellent without overburdening latency, and costs are minimal because setup uses network infrastructure already in place.

Black Box is showcasing its new MediaCento™ IPX USB at ISE 2015. These receivers and transmitters add USB HID support for touchscreens and other USB HIDs. MediaCento IPX USB can be configured for point-to-multipoint (multicast), video wall or point-to-point video extension (unicast) applications, and managed with the IPX Controller, the system turns into an IP-based video matrix. Transmitters will also send USB signals to a receiver, which enables remote touchscreen and KVM applications.

This IP streaming solution multicasts HDMI video and audio to any number of screens on a network. According to Erik Indresovde, KVM and ProAV Product Manager for Black Box, “A single transmitter can deliver multimedia to hundreds of displays with no need to run dedicated video links from a back room to displays in lobbies.” Transmitters and receivers install directly into the existing LAN infrastructure, making integration easy.

The extender transmits up to 100 m over CATx cabling, and signals will go farther when additional network switches are added to the mix. As with the rest of the MediaCento family, these extenders deliver high-quality, ultra-low latency and lossless compression for HD video. These units transmit high-quality video and audio, and support Full 1080p resolution.

The MediaCento IPX USB can be powered using standard PoE network technology or with a separate power input. Using a PoE network switch completely eliminates the need for external power supplies, making installation even easier.

Visit Black Box at ISE 2015 at the RAI Amsterdam, 10-12 February, stand 10-P148, for a live demonstration of the MediaCento IPX USB - HD video over IP to multiple screens - solution.
