ID: 1330586

(firmenpresse) - LAGUNA HILLS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/15/15 -- David Zepponi has been named president and chief executive officer for the California Association of Community Managers . Based in Laguna Hills, Calif., CACM focuses on elevating the professionalism of the California community management industry by promoting ethical standards of practice. The organization also provides California-specific educational programs that focus strictly on California''s complex body of law governing homeowners associations.

Zepponi will be responsible for all strategic planning and management of CACM, as well as the organization''s legislative and member activities. He will also oversee the hiring and management of CACM''s professional staff. Zepponi replaces Karen Conlon, who retired from CACM after serving as president and CEO since 1992.

Zepponi joins CACM with more than 20 years of experience in executive management. He most recently served as president of the Northwest Food Processors Association (NWFPA) in Portland, Ore.

During his 17-year tenure with NWFPA, Zepponi was responsible for the organization''s legislative and regulatory affairs and worked within the state legislative process. He also was responsible for strategic planning for the organization, maintaining a strong focus on building a globally competitive business environment for Northwest food processors and providing valuable services to its members.

To support member growth, Zepponi oversaw numerous education and certification programs for the association and established the Food Research and Education Institute, a training and member engagement program designed to support Oregon, Washington and Idaho communities and enhance the way Northwest food businesses and suppliers work together. Zepponi also helped create an online continuing education program complemented by in-person talks and training meetings.

Prior to joining NWFPA, Zepponi owned a marketing and distribution company in Napa, Calif., and worked at Deloitte & Touche as a management consultant in San Francisco. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with specializations in marketing, industry organizational behavior and strategy and a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a marketing concentration from California State University, Sacramento.

Zepponi has been an active member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Oregon Society of Association Executives (OSAM). A native Californian, Zepponi spent much of his youth working in his family''s vineyard in Sonoma, Calif., and winery in Napa. He currently resides in Laguna Woods, Calif.

"As the community association industry continues to evolve and mature, management professionals must develop new strategies for ensuring the long-term financial health and viability of the communities we serve," said Melinda Young, senior vice president of Walters Management in San Diego and chair of CACM''s statewide board of directors. "We''ve seen enormous changes in our industry over the past few years. David''s strong background in strategic planning and association executive management, along with his fresh perspective on community management, will be critical to CACM''s future growth and expansion."

Established in 1991, CACM is the only community association management organization in the nation to offer a California-specific educational program. The program leads to the Certified Community Association Manager (CCAM®) followed by the Master of Community Association Management (MCAM®) designations for industry professionals. CACM''s membership is comprised of nearly 3,000 California-based professionals from the community association management industry. California is home to more than 50,200 associations.
