Origin and Cause Launches New Forensic Structural Engineering Service
Yasser Korany, PH.D., P.ENG., LEED(R)AP, helms new service for Canada's largest consulting forensic engineering and fire investigation firm

The new service will be helmed by structural engineer, Yasser Korany, PH.D., P.ENG., LEED®AP.
Using advanced assessment techniques and analytical tools, Origin and Cause''s team of experienced professionals investigates deteriorated and distressed structures to determine the factors that have most likely caused or contributed to the failure. The investigators put a plan in place to secure, repair and/or rebuild, and will provide drawings, costing and help at every stage of the process to get the structure repaired as quickly as possible.
For building owners or managers concerned about the structural health of an aging building, Origin and Cause can execute a structural condition assessment to identify potential problems and help plan and direct any required maintenance and/or repairs. With an LEED® Accredited Professional leading the team, Origin and Cause can offer repair methods that have the least impact on the environment and enable the client to earn an LEED designations for their project.
The firm also offers construction litigation support for legal and insurance purposes including providing expert witness testimony in court.
The new service includes:
Spearheading the new service is structural engineer Yasser Korany. Korany specializes in structural forensic investigation and has performed more than 300 investigations to date. Throughout his career, Korany has applied his unique combination of laboratory and field experience to identify the cause of structural distress and failures for institutional and commercial facilities, residential buildings and parking garages. His engineering practice spans more than 25 years, and he is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario, Alberta and the State of Michigan. An expert on green building, Yasser is also an LEED® Accredited Professional. This accreditation signifies Yasser''s expertise in providing sustainable engineering solutions that minimally impact the environment.
Prior to joining Origin and Cause, Yasser taught structural analysis and design courses at the University of Alberta as an Associate Professor, and provided forensic engineering consultancy services in Alberta.
