James Low Invested Into the Order of Canada
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 01/12/15 -- On behalf of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, Her Honour the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, presented the insignia of Member of the Order of Canada to Dr. James Low. The private ceremony took place in Kingston, Ontario, on Sunday, January 11, 2015. Dr. Low was appointed on May 8, 2014.
James Low has made important and lasting contributions to the history of medicine in Canada. A professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology at Queen''s University, he discovered that hospital archives and artifacts were slowly being mothballed. To preserve these records, he founded the Museum of Health Care, which exhibits and explains our health care history through virtual and physical collections. He also led the development of the Coalition of Canadian Healthcare Museums and Archives, a national network that advances our understanding of health care legacies.
