Buzz in Las Vegas - and Ingolstadt
Audi Partner BFFT at CES 2015
(PresseBox) - Whilst Google, McDonald''s and Walt Disney together discuss matters and GoPro speaks before government representatives, Audi is presenting two world premieres. Welcome to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas! Few visitors to the world''s largest trade fair for consumer electronics know that behind some of the Audi exhibits is none other than automotive engineering developer BFFT. The medium sized business from Ingolstadt, Germany, has been a long standing partner of the premium manufacturer in the areas of electronic development and "spe-cial custodian" for the trade fair exhibits.
Since its foundation in 1998, BFFT has supported Audi with infotainment development, elements of which are often shown as concept studies or prototypes at trade fairs. Due to the close cooperation BFFT has responsibility for design, setup and technical support of important exhibits in this area. At CES 2015 Audi once again counts on BFFT:
The Q7 interior, on display to the world''s public for the first time, will be shown in a seat box built by BFFT. It makes it possible, among other things, to experience the virtu-al cockpit of the Audi Q7, which shows the driver data like speed, RPM and sat nav.
Alongside this, BFFT has designed three columns for the Audi Multi Media Interface (MMI) in the new Audi Q7. The highlight is the Audi "Smart Display" tablet, with which passengers can watch movies, monitor fuel consumption or adjust the air conditioning.
Besides, Audi is presenting a TT3 column, which already received acclaim at its world premiere at CES 2014. BFFT is also supporting the exhibit where Audi will be presenting the rapid advancement of vehicle electronics from the Audi TT3 to the new Audi Q7.
Under the keyword of Wireless Charging Audi is presenting an inductive charging con-sole (Audi Phone Box with Wireless Charging), which makes it possible to charge your smartphone wirelessly. Another exhibit also designed by BFFT (Audi Wireless Charging) shows how Audi will make contactless charging of electric vehicles possible by using inductive plates on the ground and in the vehicle.
Two columns that BFFT has built show the central driver assistance control unit (zFAS). Whilst the traffic and park pilot previously needed a boot full of computers, the zFAS bundles several assistance systems in one singular control device.
Audi demonstrates how a "Mobile Key" unlocks an Audi RS7 and transmits personalized data like seating and air conditioning settings as soon as the driver approaches. This is made possible by special receivers that BFFT built into door handles and centre console.
At the DRIVEN! rally press representatives will be "chauffeured" in a piloted driving Audi A7 (piloted driving concept) from Silicon Valley to CES grounds. BFFT has responsibility for preparing the cars and is providing vehicles as well as staff to assist at the location.
The buzz runs from 06 to 09 January 2015 - not just in Las Vegas, but also at the home of automotive engineering developer BFFT in Ingolstadt, Germany, where these days all eyes are focused on news of CES 2015.
