"Wax Cabinet" Startup Wins Revel Entrepreneurial Challenge
Revel Consulting's Second Annual Business Case Competition Provides Seed Funding for Its Associates' Startup Ventures
(firmenpresse) - KIRKLAND, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/06/15 -- "Wax Cabinet" a Seattle-based startup was awarded $10,000 in seed funding after winning the second annual Revel Entrepreneurial Challenge. The event was held at the end of October at Revel Consulting''s headquarters in Kirkland, Wash.
Reveler Jason Hulen, Ken Sulcer and Mikael Sonnenberg were awarded the top prize for "," an online community for record collectors and enthusiasts that provides a unified social platform, enabling users to buy, sell, communicate, and manage their collection online. Wax Cabinet is the catalyst for musical and artistic expression.
"Record collectors are lacking a social technology platform that powers a unique experience allowing them to be connected to their collection no matter where they are in the world, at the same time as connecting with a community of like-minded people," said Hulen. "Wax Cabinet focuses on building a social platform that will grow alongside record enthusiasts'' collecting journey. While our start-up journey has just begun, we have plans to launch our first mobile app in 2015."

The Wax Cabinet team will continue to receive mentoring and additional investment opportunities to help form their dream into a reality.
Initial business ideas were submitted, ideas vetted and feedback given. Then, challenge participants participated in a weekend bootcamp with sessions lead by leaders in Puget Sound''s start-up community including Kevin Croy from 9Mile Labs, Dina Vaccari from Ghostruck, Chris Bajuk from UrbanHarvest, Mariah Gentry from JoeyBra, Joe Mele from buuteeq and StowThat, Jason Burt from BuildPulse, Matt Albert from Publicis Groupe, and Nate Webb and Joe Skocilich from Focal. Participants learned various aspects of refining a business plan and taking their concepts to market.
Reveler Jonathan Spatacean, Jason Luu, Maximillian Etezadi and Max Bressler''s "" took home the "Fan Favorite" award and $2,500 for their minute-to-pitch-it video. The video garnered the most favorable votes from the public. Nine business ideas were originally submitted. Four teams made it to the final pitches. The other teams to pitch their business plans were James Titus with "," an online as management application, and Lisa Palm, Steven Rose and Michael Eck with "," a highly organized personal information repository app to serve as an aid to human memory.
"The Revel Entrepreneurial Challenge is a collaborative forum for Revelers to learn from and inspire each other," said Tim Bowman, Director of Strategy & Insights at Revel. "It''s also a friendly, yet competitive, outlet to showcase our consultant''s creativity."
