Leigh Cordner Promises New Show Elements and Inspiring Stories
(firmenpresse) - BUENA PARK, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 12/08/14 -- Medieval Times today announced that its Director of Shows Leigh Cordner was named the official show producer for Equestfest. The event provides a sneak preview of many of the equestrian units that will participate in the 126th Rose Parade® presented by Honda on New Year''s Day. The event will be held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center on December 29.
"The Tournament of Roses Equestrian Committee looked for someone who knows horses, but also someone who knows how to keep a live audience engaged in an equestrian event," said Ellen Swagerty, chair of the Equestrian Committee. "Leigh Cordner''s skills perfectly aligned with our goals."
Cordner, a 27-year veteran of the medieval jousting and sword-fighting dinner show, writes and directs the program for all nine Medieval Times castles. He oversees everything from costuming to lighting.
When named Equestfest producer, Cordner immediately enlisted the help of Los Angeles-based Matt Walker and the Troubadour Theater Company to provide an entirely new tier to this year''s show.
"Equestfest is a celebration of the horse, but it''s also an incredibly wholesome family event," said Cordner. "I want to do something that will appeal to the young people in the audience, as well as every longtime horse enthusiast who attends."
During the show, Equestfest horses and talented riders perform drills and dances, and demonstrate trick riding and roping. Attendees also can shop in the vendor court, stroll through the stables, talk to the riders, and learn about the many different breeds of horses featured in the show.
"While I''m going to keep our production content under wraps, I can promise Equestfest guests an afternoon of incredible horses, fun-filled acts and inspiring stories," said Cordner. "After all, that''s the theme of this year''s Rose Parade."
The Los Angeles Equestrian Center is located at 480 Riverside Drive in Burbank, CA. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. The two-hour show begins at noon in the Equidome, rain or shine. Advance tickets, which are available through Sharp Seating Company, are $15 general admission (children 5 and under are free) or $40 box seats (includes gift bag). Tickets also may be purchased at the venue beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event, pending availability.
