According to a recent National Retail Federation survey, Americans intend to spend more money on gift cards this holiday season than ever before. The study claims the average consumer buying gift cards will spend $173, up $10 from 2013. Purchases of gift cards are expected to reach $32 billion, making it the gift of choice for most Americans.
The popularity of gift cards is great news for a growing population of community-based sports leagues that now use gift card sales to fund everything from out-of-town tournaments to new equipment.
