HR Executive and Professor Named to SHRM''s Board of Directors

(firmenpresse) - ALEXANDRIA, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 12/01/14 -- The (SHRM), the world''s largest association representing HR, has announced its Board of Directors for 2015.

Newly elected to the board are:

Patrick M. Wright, Ph.D., Thomas C. Vandiver bicentennial chair and founder and faculty director of the Center for Executive Succession at the University of South Carolina, Columbia; and

Gretchen K. Zech, senior vice president of global human resources at Arrow Electronics Inc., Englewood, Colo.

They will serve two-year terms, beginning in January 2015.

The 2015 board will be chaired by Brian D. Silva, SHRM-SCP, chief human resources officer and senior vice president, administration at Fresenius Medical Care NA in Waltham, Mass. He will chair the board for two years beginning in January.

"In an increasingly fragmented, complex, technology-disrupting marketplace, the organizations that integrate HR into the business will prosper most," Silva said. Bette J. Francis, SHRM-SCP, vice president/director of human resources for Wilmington Trust Wealth Advisory Services in Wilmington, Del., will serve as immediate past chair.

Other elected board members continuing on the board are:

Jeffrey M. (Jeff) Cava, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Stamford, Conn.;

Jorge Consuegra, partner, The Fearless Group, New York;

Thomas W. (Tom) Derry, chief executive officer, Institute for Supply Management, Tempe, Ariz.;

My-Chau Nguyen, CPA, senior vice president of customer relationship marketing, Sirius XM Radio, Washington, D.C.;





Coretha M. Rushing, SHRM-SCP, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, Equifax Inc., Atlanta;

José Tomas, SHRM-SCP, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis, Ind.

Scott R. Washburn, SHRM-SCP, vice president human resources for Tree Top Inc., Selah, Wash.;

David Windley, president, IQ Talent Partners, San Francisco.

SHRM President and CEO , CPA, is an ex officio voting member of the board.

SHRM''s Board of Directors sets broad policies and strategic direction and provides fiduciary oversight for the 275,000-member association.



, SHRM-SCP, is chief human resources officer and senior vice president, administration for Fresenius Medical Care NA, the global leader in kidney care. Silva leads a team of 200 HR professionals in North America in addition to managing the company''s $800 million corporate real estate portfolio. Before joining Fresenius, he was senior vice president of HR at Gentiva Health Services. Before Gentiva Health Services, Silva served as senior vice president of HR and administration and was corporate secretary for Linens N Things. Previously, he held HR positions with Allstate Insurance and Guardian Insurance. He has served on the Board of Directors for 24/7 Real Media, and as an instructor in the New York Institute of Technology''s Graduate School of Management. Silva holds a master''s degree in organization psychology from Columbia University and a master''s degree in HR management from the New York Institute of Technology. He earned his undergraduate degree at St. John''s University.

, Ph.D., is Thomas C. Vandiver bicentennial chair and founder and faculty director of the Center for Executive Succession in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining USC, he served on the faculties at Cornell University, Texas A&M University and the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Wright has published more than 60 research articles in journals, more than 20 chapters in books and edited volumes and has co-authored two textbooks and two books on HR practice. He serves at the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Management. He has conducted programs and consulted for a number of large organizations. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Academy of Human Resources and is a former board member of the SHRM Foundation and HR People & Strategy. He has a doctorate in business administration and an MBA from Michigan State University and a bachelor''s degree in psychology from Wheaton College.

She is responsible for Arrow''s global HR strategy and operations and serves as a member of the company''s executive committee. She oversees talent and performance management, professional development, and compensation and benefits initiatives for the company. Zech joined Arrow Electronics from Dex One, where she was senior vice president and chief HR officer. Prior to that, she was HR group vice president at Gartner for several of the company''s global business units and corporate services. Zech previously served in HR leadership positions of increasing responsibility at Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea, Bloomingdale''s, Best Buy and Johnson Controls. She has a bachelor''s degree in human resources management from the University of Michigan. She serves on the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Colorado.
