Health Canada Failing to Protect Canadians Against Homeopathic "Vaccine Alternatives"
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/28/14 -- Last year, Bad Science Watch successfully lobbied Health Canada to have homeopathic "vaccines," commonly called nosodes, labelled with the warning: "This product is not intended to be an alternative to vaccination."
It was a positive step, but recent Bad Science Watch research indicates that aggressive, misleading and dangerous marketing of these products, for which there is no evidence of efficacy, goes on unabated with Health Canada''s implicit approval. With flu season in full bloom, one particular product, influenzinum, is of particular concern.
CBC''s Marketplace tackles this issue head on in its November 28 episode "Vaccines: Shot of Confusion." In the documentary, undercover reporters expose homeopaths understating the dangers of deadly childhood diseases, such as whooping cough and measles, and misrepresenting the benefits of proven vaccines.
Bad Science Watch applauds CBC for taking on this important health issue, and encourages all Canadians to tune in to Marketplace tonight. We are also demanding immediate action from Health Canada to stop false advertising and stop sales of influenzinum and other equally dubious "vaccine alternatives".
