Released on Samsung Gear VR, theBluVR Is the First Entertainment Release From WemoLab's VR Platform
(firmenpresse) - VENICE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/18/14 -- , a virtual reality platform pioneer, and Samsung''s Gear VR (in partnership with Oculus) announced yesterday a groundbreaking immersive entertainment experience, theBluVR, a marine virtual reality experience. The program/partnership was announced at the Samsung Developer Conference 2014 and will be available commercially in December.
First released in 2012, theBlu: Ocean World for the world wide web defined the category of 3D immersive web experiences. Following the initial success of theBlu''s web release (winner of the SXSW Entertainment Accelerator Award) Samsung approached WemoLab to partner on a version for their Gear VR launch.
For theBluVR, WemoLab''s creative team used their state-of-the-art 3D ocean simulation to faithfully recreate the look and feel of ocean life in unprecedented detail, collaborating with Academy Award Winning 3D artists like Andy Jones (animation director, Avatar) to create some of the featured ocean dwellers. Andy Jones and WemoLab''s creative team guided the meticulous adaptation of the ocean life into a fully realized virtual world with volume and depth.
The project represents the first of many commercial endeavors leveraging WemoLab''s vision and software to inspire storytellers of all kinds to create next generation VR videos and immersive experiences.
