MedU Invests in the Future of Medical Education With Grants Totaling $50,000

(firmenpresse) - LEBANON, NH -- (Marketwired) -- 11/07/14 -- Today MedU, a non-profit providing comprehensive medical learning programs designed by leading educators, is launching its annual research grant program. The MedU Research Grants, which together total $50,000, are designed to support research, both qualitative and quantitative, in learning analytics, instructional design, and effectiveness studies.

"The Research Grant Program supports MedU''s overall mission through its exploration into questions that are important to the medical education community, as well as that advance higher education and educational technology," says Norm Berman, co-founder of MedU and Professor of Pediatrics at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College.

Previous grant recipients are focusing on such topics as effectively using learning analytics to assess clinical reasoning, using Twitter in an educational setting with medical students, how implementing a flipped classroom impacts teaching in radiology, among others.

MedU expects to fund anywhere from two to five projects for $10,000 to $25,000, up to a total of $50,000. Those interested in submitting a proposal are asked to send their letter of intent to MedU by December 12, 2014. More information about eligibility and the application process can be found on the . Grant recipients will be announced on May 20, 2015.

In an era when the number of medical students is growing, applications to medical schools were up 6.1% in 2013 according to the AAMC*, and the need for doctors continues to increase, it is critical that medical educators find effective ways to tap into new methods and technologies to help them educate the next generation of doctors. MedU is committed to advancing medical education through grants, working collaboratively across its network of medical educators, and innovation.
