October Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index Falls to Eight-Month Low
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 10/28/14 -- The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) dropped 11 points in October to 8, an eight-month low, the Spectrem Group announced today. The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) fell 8 points to 5.
The indices, compiled by Spectrem Group (a market research and consulting firm specializing in the affluent and retirement markets), measure the investment confidence and outlook of households with more than $1 million of investable assets (SMICI) and more than $500,000 of investable assets (SAICI).
The September indices reflected a renewed wariness among Affluent investors. "October was a month of extreme market volatility," said George H. Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group. "The market''s roller coaster performance in recent weeks, and how this will affect their portfolios, far overshadows other concerns such as ISIS, the Ebola outbreak and the upcoming midterm elections for affluent investors."
Investor caution is further reflected in a new Spectrem Group survey of Affluent investors about how they intend to invest in the coming month. More Affluent investors, especially non-Millionaires with a net worth of at least $100,000, intend to hold on the sidelines.

The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI ®) is based on 250 monthly online interviews with the financial decision-makers in households with $500,000 or more in investable assets. The Index has a margin of error of plus or minus 6.2 percentage points. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI ®) is based on a subset of the overall survey group.
