ID: 1312621

(firmenpresse) - NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 10/24/14 -- The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) is pleased to announce the winner of the 2014 CAA Road Safety Journalism Award, presented last evening at the awards banquet of the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada.

Lesley Wimbush won for her dramatic and gripping new spin on a perennial Canadian dread: being stuck at night, in your car, in the winter. CAA judges felt that her article combined good writing and a great hook with good service journalism that could actually save lives, or at the very least make them less scary.

Mark Toljagic also received an honorary mention for his informative narrative about the real-world impacts of new technologies that impair our driving both physically and mentally. Judges said the article combined good research and a clear writing style that was easy to read right to the end of the article.

CAA is pleased to sponsor the CAA Road Safety Journalism Award to draw attention to the importance of public service journalism on road safety, and to highlight the excellent work being done in the field.

CAA is a federation of nine Clubs providing 6 million Members with exceptional emergency roadside service, complete automotive and travel services, member savings and comprehensive insurance services. CAA also advocates on issues of concern to its Members, including road safety, the environment, mobility, infrastructure and consumer protection.
