Revered Artist and Respected Film Composer Now Vying for "Best Jazz Instrumental Album" and "Album of the Year" Nominations

(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/22/14 -- Through countless accolades in a career spanning more than four glorious and colorful decades, guitarist/songwriter/composer Wayne Kramer has never been on a Grammy ballot... until today. Wayne Kramer and the Lexington Arts Ensemble released the album earlier this year on the label Kramer founded in January of 2014, Industrial Amusement. As it''s the label''s inaugural release, news of this Grammy nod is sweet.

Released via distributor InGrooves, was inspired by Kramer''s personal experience as an inmate in the infamous Kentucky prison of the same name (aka The Narcotic Farm). The instrumental album entered the national jazz charts at #6 and has continued to earn praise in such publications as Jazz Times, JAZZIZ, Rolling Stone (American, Spanish, and Brazilian editions separately), Associated Press, Huffington Post, International Musician Magazine, multiple publications in his native Detroit and dozens of others. And now, Wayne Kramer himself has his name on the Grammy ballot.

"I''ve been playing music a loooong time, so nothing should surprise me, right? Yet, I''m stunned. I''m extremely proud of this record and so pleased it''s found an audience. Getting on the Grammy ballot for free jazz is the irony of ironies!" remarks Kramer. "My roots in free jazz are long and deep, so to have this recognition as a jazz artist is inspiring."

Recognized by his peers and critics alike as one of the most influential rock musicians of all time, Wayne Kramer''s groundbreaking guitar work as leader of Detroit''s pioneering MC5 inspired some of the greatest and most recognizable players. Kramer is regularly cited as one of the key progenitors of not only punk rock, but also heavy metal.

Wayne Kramer is a legendary guitarist, an in-demand composer for film and television, and a prison reform activist as the co-founder of Jail Guitar Doors (with Billy Bragg). His composing credits cover a broad spectrum ranging from Talladega Nights to East Bound & Down, with so much in between. Wayne is currently scoring Bad Judge for NBC Networks starring Kate Walsh.
