Nationally Accredited Compound Pharmacy, QmedRx, Expands Allergy Line With Alternatives to Long-Term Injections
The New Line Provides Unique At-Home Immunotherapy Options, Including Allergy Treatment Toothpaste
(firmenpresse) - ORLANDO, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 10/21/14 -- QmedRx, a compounding pharmacy servicing patients in 49 states through in-home delivery, announces today the expansion of its allergy treatment product line to include two treatments options that can replace the traditional subcutaneous injection-based allergy treatments (SCIT). The new product additions include a revolutionary toothpaste that provides oral mucosal immunotherapy (OMIT) and a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) in liquid form.
While SCIT requires weekly visits to the doctor''s office over the course of three to five years, OMIT and SLIT are oral forms of immunotherapy treatment that are prescribed by a doctor, but self-administered at home. OMIT is a proprietary treatment system, licensed by QMedRx, that incorporates a patient''s personalized allergy prescription into a specially-formulated toothpaste that is appropriate for use in regular tooth-brushing. The approach makes allergy immunotherapy treatment both easy to remember and to self-administer.
The prescription SLIT option are liquid drops that are easily self-administered once daily with an applicator. Drops are placed under the tongue and held for two minutes for a patient''s specific immunotherapy dose.
"For years, allergy sufferers had limited treatment options, like shots or medication at the doctor''s office, and the treatment drop-out rate was over 70 percent," said Bob Pomrenke, VP of Allergy at QmedRx. "With allergies affecting more than 25 percent of the population, we are thrilled to offer patients a convenient way to address and treat the underlying causes of their allergies."
