The NHL Drives Record Viewership at TVA Sports
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 10/14/14 -- With the National Hockey League arriving on its airwaves, TVA Sports is proud to announce record viewership for the past week. On Saturday night, the channel reached new heights, reaching a peak of 1.3 million viewers who watched the Montreal Canadiens comeback to beat the Philadelphia Flyers, an average of 784,000 viewers and a 26.6% market share. Last Wednesday, during the Canadiens season opening game, TVA Sports attracted an average of 925,000 viewers, or a 25.5% market share, reaching a peak of more than 1.2 million.
"TVA Sports has confirmed its status as the number one hockey destination in Quebec. We experienced our largest viewership week to date and, of course, we are extremely happy," says Serge Fortin, TVA Sports Vice-President. "Given Quebecers'' response to our programming, we believe that TVA Sports will reach two million subscribers very soon."
Digital is also a huge success
Fan reaction to the channel''s multiplatform offer was also very enthusiastic. More than 83,000 fans have already downloaded the TVA Sports and TVA Sports Hockey applications.
