Galaxie-Tableaux vivants, an initiative of the Centre d''accueil et d''accompagnement francophone des immigrants du sud-est du Nouveau-Brunswick (CAFI), brings Acadian women and newly arrived immigrant women and gives them the opportunity to participate in new and enlightening cultural experiences.
On behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe), today announced that CAFI would receive $30,188 in funding for this initiative.
The Galaxie-Tableaux vivants initiative is a series of multidisciplinary workshops and shows involving about 20 immigrant and Acadian women. Participants will work with five artists in the disciplines of mime, theatre, dance, music and visual art. They will create tableaux vivants based on their own life experiences and on the relationships and resemblances between the values and customs of their countries of origin and their country of settlement.
