Proceeds from this year''s Rockin'' Big Give will go to two wonderful charities: Rainbow Riders and The Gathering Place:

Rainbow Riders

For the past 20 years, Rainbow Riders has operated a therapeutic riding program to help countless Newfoundland and Labrador children grow and develop despite physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities - all through horseback riding. By uniting these children with an equine partner and a team of volunteers, Rainbow Riders provides the rider with one of the more progressive forms of therapy, improving the rider''s strength, circulation, muscle tone and sensory integration.

Through therapeutic riding, horses help physically and mentally challenged children achieve things that may seem impossible. They help an autistic child make connections and improve communication skills. They lend a six-year-old child, confined since birth to a wheelchair, his legs to run through a field.

Relying solely on donations and fundraising, Rainbow Riders operates from a facility that currently houses 13 horses and provides an indoor riding arena to support year-round operation. Rainbow Riders is on

The Gathering Place

The Gathering Place is a service centre committed to building community, promoting equality and providing nourishment for those seeking respite from isolation and loneliness.

The Gathering Place is open for guests Monday to Friday and is operated mostly through financial and in kind donations and by the generosity of a large number of volunteers.

The Gathering Place provides meals for 80 - 125 men and women per day. The hospitality and ample space provides a caring and nurturing environment. There is an atmosphere of care, respect, compassion and support that encourages social development and self-esteem and a response to individual needs as they arise. Social services such as advocacy, literacy education, and assistance with activities of daily living are made available as resources permit. For more information, please visit

Born in St. John''s, Jeremy moved to Montreal at the age of 19 to pursue culinary arts at St. Pius X Culinary Institute, eventually landing a job at Mediterraneo under Claude Pelletier and Michel Ross.

Jeremy''s connection to his roots brought him back to his hometown and at the helm of Atlantica in Portugal Cove, Atlantica was selected Best New Restaurant in Canada by enRoute magazine in 2007. In 2010, he went on to open Raymonds with partner Jeremy Bonia, again being selected Best New Restaurant in Canada by enRoute in 2011. Jeremy remains the only chef to have won Best New Restaurant in Canada more than once.
