GreenCentre Canada and Xerox Research Centre of Canada Collaborate to Advance Green Chemistry Technologies

ID: 1306949

(firmenpresse) - KINGSTON, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 10/02/14 -- GreenCentre Canada Inc. ("GreenCentre"), a national centre of excellence for identifying and developing green technologies, is pleased to announce a unique collaboration with Xerox Research Centre of Canada ("XRCC"), Canada''s leading materials research centre. As a result of the collaboration, GreenCentre will be able to leverage XRCC''s expertise and state-of-the-art engineering facility and chemical pilot plant. The collaboration is expected to help accelerate industry implementation of GreenCentre''s game-changing green chemistry technologies and further its mission to advance sustainable chemistry innovations into the marketplace.

"We are thrilled to have access to the infrastructure and expertise at XRCC, which allows us to take our technology development to a whole new level," said Rui Resendes, Executive Director of GreenCentre Canada. "We are now able to significantly expand our ability to serve our clients and stakeholders in advancing game-changing green chemistry technologies for industrial uptake."

Since its inception in 2009, GreenCentre has worked with chemistry researchers and entrepreneurs to develop their green chemistry technologies in preparation for industry adoption. GreenCentre''s in-house laboratory, which has underpinned its commercialization activities to date, is limited in scale. By working with XRCC, GreenCentre immediately expands its development capacity beyond the bench scale to pilot scale. Consequently, GreenCentre can now respond to industry''s need for appropriately scaled and de-risked green technology options.

The agreement with XRCC allows GreenCentre to retain rights to new IP created as part of the technology development and scale up at XRCC. Ensuring direct access to relevant IP greatly improves the likelihood of industry adopting these promising technologies.
