Becker & Poliakoff Attorney Michael Gongora Honored in Pink Flamingo Awards
Former Miami Beach Commissioner Voted Winner in "Favorite Local Hero" Category
(firmenpresse) - MIAMI, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 10/01/14 -- Becker & Poliakoff is pleased to announce that shareholder Michael Góngora was the top vote-getter in the "Favorite Local Hero" category in the 2nd annual Pink Flamingo Awards. Mr. Góngora was recognized for his work as the first and only openly gay elected Miami Beach Commissioner and Vice Mayor.
The Pink Flamingo Awards honor people, places and organizations that have demonstrated a level of excellence in the South Florida LGBT community throughout the year. Winners in all 21 categories, who are selected by popular voting, were honored last month at a gala reception and dinner at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Mr. Góngora is the lead Community Association Litigator in Becker & Poliakoff''s Coral Gables office and a very active member of Miami Dade County''s civic, charitable, business and legal communities. During his tenure on the Miami Beach Commission, Mr. Góngora created the City of Miami Beach Sustainability Committee, which passed a sustainability plan to combat flooding and rising seas, and served as its founding Chair.

The "Favorite Local Hero" award was sponsored by the World Outgames 2017, an organization where Góngora also serves on the board of directors.
The Pink Flamingo Awards are a "People''s Choice"-style awards that recognize the people and places that have helped make Miami Beach a world-class city and travel destination. The Awards benefit the LGBT Visitor Center which welcomes thousands of international visitors throughout the year. The Visitor Center is funded and operated by the MDGLCC Foundation, Inc., the non-profit Foundation of the Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
