(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 10/01/14 -- The Flag Art Foundation organizes 4-6 exhibitions per year in a state-of-the-art exhibition space, each with a different curator. Opened in 2008, the Flag Art Foundation is a non-profit art institution that features established and emerging artists from over 25 countries. The objective of the Flag Art Foundation is to promote and encourage the appreciation of contemporary art. It is a unique environment that is both educational and entertaining, and visitors can view and contemplate the artworks displayed. Curators select works from a variety of sources in order to include a wide variety of representation in each exhibit. For its September 2014 exhibition, the featured curator was Shaquille O''Neal. Shaq Loves People exhibits portraits of people from various races, cultures, and ethnic background. It is a celebration of the human spirit, and typifies the relationship between O''Neal and his fans. The portraits selected challenge typical stereotypes of family, female beauty, power, and masculinity. The works presented come in a variety of media forms, including oils, photography, video, sculpture, and drawings.

One of the featured artists is , from New York. Shaq selected his work "Three Jews Walk Into A Bar," 2014, oil on linen, 30 x 40 inches, as the signature piece to demonstrate his talent. Marc was selected from over 1000 candidates for this exhibition. His hyper-realistic, strikingly detailed painting style, often portrays American life from a slightly voyeuristic viewpoint. Since the Shaq Loves People exhibition focuses on challenging stereotypes with an emphasis on males, females, and power, the image of three Hassidic men wearing broad, black felt hats while viewing ''s "A Bar at the Folies-Bergère," which depicts a scene in the nightclub in in 1882.

Known for his transformative take on iconic images, uses painting, drawings, and sketches to convey his view of the world around us. He has a reputation for juxtaposing one element with another, or reversing traditional views on the world. His work entitled "The Mythology Of The International Superfine," featuring a bikini-clad supermodel laying on top of Damien Hirst''s, The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living," an artwork created in 1991 depicting a taxidermied Tiger shark in a vitrine, gives one an idea as to his imagination and the extreme juxtapositions of art, beauty and humor. His works have been featured in numerous exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Seattle, and Houston. Many of his works are in private collections, as well as public collections and art museums.





Marc Dennis was born in Danvers, Massachusetts and attended Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia, receiving his B.F.A. degree. He received his M.F.A degree from the University of Texas at Austin having studied under Peter Saul. In addition to painting and drawing, Marc is a full time professor of art at Elmira College, teaching all levels of painting and drawing.
