Minister Blaney Speaks at Annual Freedom Walk to Tackle Human Trafficking

The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today highlighted our Government''s action to combat human trafficking while speaking to participants of the (free-them) Freedom Walk. The Freedom Walk is an annual activity that raises awareness and funds to fight human trafficking in Canada and promotes collaboration and action among anti-human trafficking partners.
Our Government has taken strong action to combat human trafficking in all its forms. In June 2012, our Government launched the National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking, which consolidated ongoing efforts to combat this crime and introduced aggressive new initiatives to prevent human trafficking, identify victims, protect the most vulnerable and prosecute perpetrators. The National Action Plan supports organizations that provide assistance to victims and builds on our current response of working together with our valued partners, including (free-them), to prevent and combat this disturbing crime.
